Delivering Quality: Peter Csathy, Sorenson Media
Tyler Pyburn of The Pulse Network sits down with Peter Csathy, CEO of Sorenson Media, to discuss shifting expectations surrounding content distribution. Csathy talks about consumers’ desire for high quality delivery, without complexity, and he says a focus on this is what Sorenson Media is known for. Csathy also says that Sorenson is the Swiss Army Knife of encoders, as they are able to support the broadest variety of formats, alleviating headaches for content creators, and creating the greatest possible consumer experience.
Video in general is a way to be more productive for anybody who wants to compress or share their content. And so Csathy talks about the ways that Sorenson has adapted to the new ways video is being used, and how every company is now a media company as large volumes of content are constantly being produced. With this in mind, he says, controlling work flows has become a problem for many, and so in adapting, Sorenson Media has become a total work flow provider. Csathy discusses how they allow customers the flexibility to choose the tools that work best for them, providing options and modular, open frameworks. The Cloud, he says though, is what’s really leading the way in innovations as it relates to video work flow, making more stuff possible than ever before, in a secure and quality fashion. And in addition to all these changes in technology, a change in the demographic has pushed content creators and consumers together. Csathy finishes by discussing how content may turn to be more niche focused, as content creators have access to more precise feedback and can therefore better tailor their messages to consumers.
