Bringing Content To Life and Big Data: Janae Stow Lee, Quantum
Big data is getting created everywhere. We sat down with Janae Stow Lee, Senior VP at Quantum, to talk about this shift in technology. Stow Lee discusses the data growth issues associated with bringing content to life, and the need for solutions and technology to be in place.
But, she says, with more users there are also more ways to gain revenue. She then discusses how using content for the creation of revenue is an increasingly large issue for the media and entertainment industry. Stow Lee explains that it involves flexible solutions that can adjust to users’ needs in order to bring content to life. She then goes on to explain how content is an asset, which needs to be reusable over time, and she stresses how important it is to be able to get the most out of your content after you’ve brought it to life. This, Stow Lee says, includes being able to securely store content for an extended period of time, cost effectively. To be able to optimize work flows around bringing your content to life is critical, and you need a shared storage infrastructure that can be flexible enough for the platform to accommodate users’ needs as they are shifting. Stow Lee explains the bottom line- that bringing content to life does no good if you can’t use it later on. She also discusses how Quantum has been involved in this growth of digital data, and therefore, her excitement for the 2012 NAB Show where the discussion revolves around The Great Content Shift.
